Big South postpones final Robert Morris football game, ends Colonials' spring season
Robert Morris’ spring football season ended when the Big South Conference canceled the Colonials’ home game Saturday against Monmouth. The conference made the announcement Monday, citing “limited student-athlete availability within the RMU program.”
Robert Morris’ game with Monmouth originally was postponed March 13.
The Colonials played three games this year in a response to the postponement of the 2020 fall season due to the covid-19 pandemic. Robert Morris finished 0-3 with losses to James Madison, 36-16; Kennesaw State, 35-0; and Charleston Southern, 27-14.
During the abbreviated season, quarterback George Martin threw for 520 yards and three touchdowns, including two scores to D’Andre Hicks, who finished with 19 receptions for 182 yards.
Robert Morris plans to return to a fall schedule this year with its season opener Sept. 4 at Dayton.
