Canada, Sidney Crosby, beat Slovenia to open IIHF World Championship

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby led Canada to a 4-0 win against Slovenia in a preliminary round game in the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Championship tournament at Avicii Arena in Stockholm on Saturday.

Serving as Canada’s captain, Crosby opened the contest as his team’s second-line center. He did not record a point but had three shots and was 7 for 13 (53.8%) on faceoffs while logging 21:13 of ice time on 24 shifts.
