When Will Mann learned that Brianna Fleming earned her second-consecutive PGA WORKS Golf Management University Scholarship, he said he was surprised but not surprised.

Fleming is a sophomore at Coastal Carolina and a 2018 graduate of Central Valley who is majoring in business management that specializes in the school’s PGA golf management program.

She is one of 10 winners of an $8,000 scholarship that is designed to improve the recruitment and retention of talented and motivated students from diverse backgrounds who are pursuing PGA membership through the program.

“She’s an accomplished student who takes her academics seriously,” said Mann, director of the school’s PGA golf management program and past president of PGA of America. “She has a great personality, is quite unassuming and is confident in her abilities. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got another one.”

When Fleming graduates in 2022, she’ll be a PGA America member.

Coastal Carolina is one of 18 universities to offer the PGA golf management program. The program prepares students for careers in the golf industry by combining academic studies and professional golf training experience.

Some students become club or teaching professionals, sales reps or administrators.

Fleming made the President’s List by achieving a 4.0 grade-point average both her freshman and sophomore years.

“PGA REACH is proud to award these outstanding students with a PGA WORKS Golf Management University Scholarship, as they pursue their dream of earning PGA membership and a college degree,” PGA president Suzy Whaley said in a release. “We congratulate them for their academic success, and we’re delighted that they represent an exciting future for the game and our industry.”
