The annual Westmoreland 3-man scramble was held May 29, and, despite tough weather conditions, the trio of Arnie Cutrell, Ron DeNunzio and David DeNunzio shot a 14-under-par 58 at the Madison Club to win the title.
An eagle on No. 18 proved to be the difference.
The trio edged Brian Fajt, Kevin Fajt and Sean Knapp, which shot a 13-under 59.
Finishing third at 11-under was Ryan Sikora, John Guzzie and Brian Zachetti.
The county has two events scheduled for this week. The Junior Amateur is Thursday at Latrobe Country Club, and the Amateur Better Ball is Saturday at Greensburg Country Club.
Latrobe Country Club
Steve Limani shot a 4-under 140 to win the 2021 President’s Cup Event on Saturday and Sunday. He shot a 5-under 67 during the final round.
Kurt Kuyat finished second at 141, and Day 1 leader Charlie Breitsman was third with a 142. Brian Quinn placed fourth with a 143, and Mic Moorhead was fifth with a 144.
Breitsman shot a 67 on Saturday.
Gee/Leone win title
Devin Gee and Steve Leone shot a 3-under 67 to win the Tri-State PGA Section Pro-Official Championship at Chartiers Country Club on June 1.
Gene Walter led a group of John Masi, Virgil Albright, Nick Hodge and Mark Czachowski to win the The Watson Institute Invitational Pro-Am at Allegheny Country Club on June 4. The group was 36-under.
The Tri-State open is June 14-15 at Wildwood Golf Club.
Shipley wins WPGA event
St. Clair Country Club member Neal Shipley was a three-shot winner over a trio of players at the WPGA 28th Annual Spring Stroke Championships at Williams Golf and Country Club on June 1.
Shipley’s 36-hole score was 136.
Tying for second were Jack Sollon, Louis Olsakovsky and Erik Bertrund.
Oakmont Country Club member Will Livingston was the medalist at the amateur qualifier at Scotch Valley Country Club. He shot a 1-under 71.
Others to qualify were Eric Herzing, Sam Lafferty, Josh Muir, Jack McCullough, Brock Matava and Sean Brannan.
