For Friday’s “First Call,” you can watch Antonio Brown turn himself in as he goes to jail. Maybe the Steelers should pay attention to a small conference tight end who is emerging at the Senior Bowl. Pitt and Duquesne hit the road in college hoops. Robert Morris has a big home date in college hockey.

Yup. It’s come to this

Antonio Brown reportedly spent the night in jail Thursday after turning himself into police in Miami. CBS4 in Miami has the video of the former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver turning himself into authorities, wearing some sort of outfit that featured a turquoise suit over a lime green zip-up.

He arrived at the jail around 10 p.m. with his lawyers and an entourage. He was turning himself in on a warrant for his arrest, in the wake of an incident that involved him allegedly throwing rocks at a delivery truck.

And the TV station says there appeared to be some confusion. According to reporter Carey Codd, Brown walked into the jail, then walked out of the jail, conferred with his lawyer, then turned around and walked right back into the facility.

Brown stayed silent when he was approached by Codd for questions. His attorney Eric Schwartzreich insisted that Brown is innocent, and he would try to post bond Friday.

Schwartzreich also insisted that the goal is to get Brown acquitted on all charges. A bond hearing is scheduled for Friday morning.

Fine Flyer

An off-the-radar name from a small conference school is starting to emerge as a draft candidate at the Senior Bowl.

It’s Dayton tight end Adam Trautman.

Trautman is 6-foot-5, 253 pounds. He averaged 83 yards receiving per game, was an FCS All-American and caught 14 touchdowns in 11 games as a senior.

Duquesne is familiar with Trautman. He had nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown against the Dukes this year. He had five catches for 69 yards and a score last year.

Hmm. I wonder if any teams — say, one in the AFC North for instance — may have an interest in a tight end?

Scouting Syracuse

Pitt’s basketball team (13-6, 4-4 ACC) travels to the Carrier Dome to play Syracuse (12-7, 5-3) at noon on Saturday.

The Orange struggled in out-of-conference games, losing all four of its significant pre-ACC contests (Oklahoma State, Iowa, Penn State, Georgetown) by 10 points or more.

They also began ACC play at 0-3. But the Orange have turned things around lately, winning their last four conference games.

Senior Elijah Hughes leads the ACC in scoring at 19.7 points per game. He’s second (57) behind his own teammate, Buddy Boeheim (67), in three pointers made.

Both teams are coming off close wins Wednesday night. Pitt escaped at home against Boston College, 74-72, courtesy of Ryan Murphy’s jump shot.

The Orange won by two points at Notre Dame, 84-82.

The Panthers lost both games between the schools last year.

Staying in New England

The Duquesne Dukes look to rebound Saturday from their worst half of basketball this season when they visit UMass.

Keith Dambrot’s team scored only 17 points in the second half against Rhode Island on Wednesday. That allowed a 40-30 lead to turn into a 77-55 loss to the Rams.

It was the first defeat of the A-10 conference season for the Dukes (15-3, 5-1).

They visit the Minutemen at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Minutemen are struggling this year, 7-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

The Dukes won last year’s meeting 80-73 at the Palumbo Center.

Dethrone the champs?

The Robert Morris hockey team is looking for a small measure of revenge this weekend.

Last March, American International College beat RMU, 3-2, in overtime of the Atlantic Hockey Association semifinals, en route to the conference championship.

AIC then went onto the NCAA tournament and shocked No. 1 seed St. Cloud State in the first round, 2-1.

The Colonials host the Yellow Jackets at the Island Sports Center Friday (7:05 p.m.) and Saturday (5:05 p.m.) for a weekend series.

AIC is in third place in Atlantic Hockey with 34 points, three points in front of fourth place RMU. Sacred Heart leads the conference with 40.
