Defenseman Scott Harrington played 10 games for the Penguins during the 2014-15 season.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Scott Harrington has joined the ZSC Lions of the National League in Switzerland.

That team announced it signed Harrington to a contract for the remainder of the 2023-24 season on Tuesday via a release.

Harrington, 30, was a second-round pick (No. 54 overall) of the Penguins in the 2011 NHL Draft and spent parts of three seasons with the organization, appearing in 10 NHL contests (with no points), all during the 2014-15 season.

In July of 2015, Harrington and several other assets were traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the trade that brought popular forward Phil Kessel to the Penguins.

In addition to the Penguins and Maple Leafs, the left-handed Harrington, a native of Kingston, Ont., has played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
