GCC grad Appleby tabbed PSAC West player of week
IUP is the No. 1 team in the nation in Division II women’s basketball. It would stand to reason the Crimson Hawks also have one of the top point guards.
Senior Carolyn Appleby has been a mainstay in the backcourt for three years and her play of late has kept IUP among the elite.
Appleby on Monday was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division Athlete of the Week.
The Greensburg Central Catholic graduate moved into seventh place on the Crimson Hawks’ all-time scoring list with 1,344 points. She led IUP with a season-high 24 points in a 90-54 victory over Slippery Rock.
She added 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds in a 74-57 win over Mercyhurst.
