Courtney Grove named field hockey coach at Seton Hill

Anybody who followed Seton Hill women’s lacrosse in recent years will know the name Courtney Grove.

Now, Griffins field hockey fans will know it as well.

The 10th-year coach of the lacrosse team was announced Tuesday as the new field hockey coach.

She left Seton Hill in 2011 to become a lacrosse assistant at Marquette for two years, but returned to Seton Hill in 2014 and has led the lacrosse team ever since.

“I plan to bring the same energy and excitement level that I have on the lacrosse field to the field hockey field,” said Grove, a native of Boyertown who played college lacrosse at Duquesne. “I hope to help the field hockey team become a program that reaches the PSAC postseason year in and year out.”

Grove, a Latrobe resident, led the lacrosse team to the PSAC Tournament four times in the last five years. The Griffins (9-6, 7-3) are in third place this season.

Grove led Seton Hill to a 14-win season in 2015 and a trip to the PSAC semifinals — their best year.
