Hempfield grad Callie Sowers tosses no-hitter to lead Bloomsburg to PSAC Tournament win
Callie Sowers always has had a flair for pitching in big games.
The larger the stage, the harder she throws.
And when the Bloomsburg junior ace is locked in, good luck hitting her.
Slippery Rock was fortunate to get a foul tip Wednesday morning during the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament.
Sowers, a former Hempfield standout, opened the postseason with a bang, tossing a no-hitter as the Huskies won 1-0 to advance to play East Stroudsburg on Wednesday afternoon.
She struck out 15, walked three and forced three groundouts and three flyouts at Veteran’s Park in Quakertown. It was the 62nd no-hitter in program history and the first since 2017.
