The Pittsburgh Riverhounds allowed a goal three minutes into stoppage time, leading to a 1-1 draw with Hartford Athletic on Saturday night at Dillon Stadium in Hartford, Conn.

Luka Prpa scored for Hartford (2-0-1), heading in a free kick from Danny Barrera.

The Hounds (0-1-1) played a man down after captain Kenardo Forbes was sent off following a scuffle with 10 minutes remaining.

Forbes was called for a foul on Younes Boudadi, and there was an ensuing confrontation with players from both teams. Forbes was sent off for stepping on Boudadi after he went to the ground during the scuffle.

“I was happy with the first half, and I think we were pretty good,” Riverhounds coach Bob Lilley said. “I don’t think we can blame it on refs, because in the second half, we didn’t play well enough. We didn’t put in the energy and let them play a lot in our end.”

Russell Cicerone scored off a header from Tommy Williamson in the 42nd minute to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead.

The Riverhounds outshot Hartford, 9-6, in the first half, but managed just one shot in the second half.

The Hounds will return to action with their home opener against Charlotte Independence at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
