Minor league report: Alex D’Orio leads Penguins past Devils

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 23 saves on 24 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-1 road win against the Binghamton Devils at RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark, N.J. on Friday.

Forwards Jordy Bellerive, Jonathan Gruden and Drew O’Connor each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (10-11-3-2).

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the rival Hershey Bears on Saturday, 5 p.m.

Goaltender Shane Starrett made 25 saves on 28 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 road loss to the Fort Wayne Komets at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Forward Brendan Harris scored the only goal for Wheeling (17-27-5-1).

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Komets on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
