Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Alex Nylander scored two goals in a 5-3 home win against the Cleveland Monsters at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Two goals by forward Alex Nylander led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 5-3 home win against the Cleveland Monsters at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Forwards Corey Andonovski and Raivis Ansons and defenseman Ty Smith all contributed a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (11-8-3-0) while forward Peter Abbandonato recorded two assists.

Goaltender Magnus Hellberg made 34 saves on 37 saves and boosted his record to 3-3-0.

Defenseman P.O Joseph, designated to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a conditioning assignment, opened the contest on the top pairing and recorded an assist as well as one shot.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Providence Bruins on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.


An overtime goal by defenseman Davis Bunz at 2:53 of overtime gave the Wheeling Nailers a 4-3 win against the Indy Fuel at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis.

Defenseman Isaac Belliveau had a goal and two assists for Wheeling (10-9-1-0) while forward Jordan Frasca contributed a goal and an assist.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 26 saves on 29 shots and improved his record to 6-5-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a home game against the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
