Minor league report: Frederick Gaudreau leads Penguins past Phantoms in overtime

An overtime goal by forward Frederick Gaudreau gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 5-4 road win against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL Center in Allentown on Saturday.

Gaudreau as well as forwards Jordy Bellerive, Sam Miletic and Nick Schilkey each had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (4-2-1) while goaltender Shane Starrett made 21 saves on 25 shots in the victory.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, 3 p.m.

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 30 saves on 34 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-3 home loss to the Utah Grizzlies at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Defenseman Aaron Thow had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (6-14-1) while forwards Lawton Courtnall and Austin Fyten each added goals.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Grizzlies on Sunday, 4:10 p.m.
