Minor league report: Penguins beat Americans in shootout

A shootout goal by forward Ty Glover gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 5-4 home win against the Rochester Americans at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Forward Drake Caggiula had a regulation goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (24-26-4-5) while defenseman Mitch Reinke contributed two assists.

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 31 saves on 35 shots in regulation then stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout to record the victory which snapped a three-game losing streak for the Penguins.

The Penguins’ next game is a road game against the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday, 7 p.m.

Forward Samuel Tremblay had an overtime goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-3 road win against the Norfolk Admirals at the Norfolk (Va.) Scope Arena.

Goaltender Brad Barone made 16 saves on 19 shots for Wheeling (25-30-5-0) while forward Cedric Desruisseaux, Jordan Frasca and Ross Krieger all scored regulation goals.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Admirals on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.
