Minor league report: Penguins fall to Phantoms in overtime

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 21 saves on 24 saves in a 3-2 home overtime loss to the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Forward Drake Caggiula and defenseman Josh Maniscalco each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (25-26-6-5).

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday, 5:05 p.m.

An overtime goal by forward Jordan Frasca gave the Wheeling Nailers a 6-5 home win against the Reading Royals at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Peter Laviolette scored two goals for Wheeling (26-32-5-0) while defenseman T.J. Ferguns contributed a goal and three assists. Goaltender Brad Barone made 21 saves on 26 shots in the victory.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Royals on Sunday, 4:10 p.m.
