Minor league report: Penguins fall to Thunderbirds in Filip Hallander’s return

Forward Alex Nylander had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-2 home loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 14 saves on 17 shots for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (20-17-2-3) while forward Corey Andonovski scored the Penguins’ other goal.

Forward Filip Hallander made his return to the Penguins’ lineup on Wednesday, appearing in his first game since he was hospitalized due to a suspected head injury during the late stages of a 4-2 home loss to the Charlotte Checkers on Jan. 6. On Wednesday, Hallander recorded two shots and two minor penalties.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Thunderbirds on Friday, 7:05 p.m.
