Minor league report: Penguins lose third straight to Thunderbirds

Forwards Adam Johnson and Sam Miletic each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 6-3 loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds at WesBanco Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Goaltender Casey DeSmith made 24 saves for the Penguins (17-14-3-2) who have lost three consecutive games.

The Penguins’ next game is against the Charlotte Checkers at home on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

Goaltender Jordan Ruby made 46 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-0 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati.

The Nailers (16-13-4-0) had a three-game winning streak halted.

The Nailers’ next game is against the Toledo Walleye at home at the WesBanco Arena on Sunday, 4:05 p.m.
