Goaltender Ludovic Waeber made 19 saves on 22 shots in his debut for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-0 home loss to the Utica Comets at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Acquired in a trade on March 8, Waeber’s record slipped to 6-7-1.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (31-22-8-1) was shut out for the third time this season.

According to Inside AHL Hockey, Penguins forward Vasily Ponomarev was scratched due to an undisclosed injury.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.


Two goals by forward Jordan Martel led the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 home win against the Fort Wayne Komets at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward William Provost contributed a goal for Wheeling (32-21-8-1) while goaltender Jaxon Castor stopped 28 of 29 shots, improving his record to 7-4-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Sunday, 4:10 p.m.
