Defenseman Jack Rathbone had a goal and two assists for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-1 home win against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Forward Avery Hayes had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (36-22-8-1) which extended a season-best winning streak to five games while forwards Mathieu De St. Phalle, Vinnie Hinostroza and Lukas Svejkovsky each contributed a goal.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 35 saves on 36 shots to improve his record to 23-10-6.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Bridgeport Islanders on Friday, 7:05 p.m.


Two goals and an assist by forward Jared Westcott led the Wheeling Nailers to a 5-3 home win against the Indy Fuel at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Tanner Laderoute had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (36-28-4-1) which snapped a four-game losing streak while forward Jordan Frasca contributed two assists.

Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 21 saves on 24 shots, boosting his record to 8-4-1.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday, 7:10 p.m.
