Two goals by forward Avery Hayes led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 5-2 home win against the Bridgeport Islanders at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Forward Jagger Joshua recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (37-22-8-1) which has won a season-best six consecutive games while forwards Beau Jelsma, Sam Poulin and Austin Rueschhoff each contributed a goal apiece.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist improved his record to 25-10-6 after making 35 saves on 37 shots.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is will be against the rival Hershey Bears in their regular season home finale on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.

Notes:

• According to the team’s radio broadcast, Penguins defenseman Ty Smith will be sidelined on a long-term basis due to an undisclosed injury.

• On Friday morning, Pittsburgh Penguins defensive prospect Isaac Belliveau was promoted from Wheeling of the ECHL to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
