Minor league report: Sam Houde leads Penguins past Checkers

Two goals by forward Sam Houde led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 5-3 home win against the Charlotte Checkers at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Forwards Drake Caggiula, Alex Nylander and Valtteri Puustinen all had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (15-9-2-3) while forward Filip Hallander contributed two assists. Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 24 saves on 27 shots in the victory.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Checkers on Friday, 7:05 p.m.
