Minor league report: Struggles continue for Penguins, Nailers

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 22 saves on 24 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-1 home loss to the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Forward Sam Houde scored the lone goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (23-25-4-5) which has lost six of its past seven games.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Utica Comets on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.

Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 19 saves on 24 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 6-4 road loss to the Fort Wayne Komets at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Nappier was replaced at 14:37 of the second period by goaltender Brad Barone, who stopped all 15 shots he faced. Barone also recorded a fighting major and a game misconduct late in regulation at the 19:26 mark of the third period when he fought Komets goaltender Ryan Fanti during a brawl between several players.

Forwards Cedric Desruisseaux, Tyler Drevitch, Ross Krieger and defenseman Louie Roehl all scored goals for Wheeling (23-29-5-0), which has lost six consecutive games.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Komets on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
