Minor league report: Taylor Gauthier records for AHL shutout as Penguins beat Crunch

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 34 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-0 shutout of the Syracuse Crunch at Upstate Medical University Arena at the Oncenter War Memorial in Syracuse, N.Y. on Friday.

Improving his record to 1-0-1, Gauthier recorded his first career shutout at the American Hockey League level.

Forward Alex Nylander had two goals and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (6-4-1-0) which extended a winning streak to three games while forward Jansen Harkins and defenseman Ty Smith each contributed a goal and an assist.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Crunch on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.

Goaltender David Tedneck made 20 saves on 24 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-2 loss to the Idaho Steelheads at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Tedneck’s record fell to 2-1-0 while forwards Justin Addamo and Dillon Hamaliuk each scored goals for Wheeling (4-2-0-0).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Steelheads on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
