Minor league report: Valtteri Puustinen gets two points for Penguins in loss

Forward Valtteri Puustinen had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who were routed by the rival Hershey Bears, 8-3, at the Giant Center in Hershey on Saturday.

Defenseman Chris Bigras recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (9-10-1-2) while defenseman Matt Bartkowski and Jordy Bellerive each added goals. Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 19 saves on 24 shots in the defeat.

Primarily due to concerns related to covid-19, the Penguins dressed an irregular lineup that included 10 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Rochester Americans on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

Forwards Matt Alfaro, Jared Cockrell, Sam Houde and Brandon Saigeon each had a goal and two assists for the Wheeling Nailers who sank the Norfolk Admirals, 9-2, at the Norfolk Scope in Norfolk, Va.

Defenseman Adam Smith and forward Cam Hausinger each collected a goal and an assist for Wheeling (14-8-1) while goaltender Stefanos Lekkas made 27 saves on 29 shots in the victory which extended the team’s winning streak to three games.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Dec. 26, 6:10 p.m.
