The Penguins assigned nine players, including some of their top prospects, to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Forwards Kasper Bjorkqvist, Jonathan Gruden, Filip Hallander, Nathan Legare, Sam Poulin and Valtteri Puustinen as well as defensemen Niclas Almari, Taylor Fedun and P.O Joseph were sent to the franchise’s AHL affiliate.

Legare, Poulin and Joseph are roundly considered to be the organization’s top prospects in various orders.

Poulin (first round) and Legare (third round) were draft picks by the Penguins in 2019. Joseph (first round in 2017) was the primary return the Penguins received in a 2019 trade that sent popular veteran forward Phil Kessel to the Arizona Coyotes.

Bjorkqvist (second round in 2016) and Hallander (second round in 2018) are among the team’s top 10 prospects.

Following these transactions, the Penguins now have 30 players remaining on their training camp roster.
