In 13 games this season, Penguins forward Vinnie Hinostroza has three points (one goal, two assists).

The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned forward Vinnie Hinostroza and defenseman Ryan Shea to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Tuesday.

In 13 NHL games this season, Hinostroza has scored three points (one goal, two assists) while averaging 9:53 of ice time per contest. With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hinostroza has appeared in five AHL contests and scored four points (two goals, two assists).

The right-handed Hinostroza is signed to a one-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $775,000. He cleared waivers on Saturday.

Shea has played in 22 NHL games this season and has not scored a point while clocking an average of 12:28 of ice time per contest. This marks the first time this season he has been assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

A right-handed shot, Shea is also signed to a one-year contract worth $775,000. Shea cleared waivers on Tuesday.

These transactions come in advance of the NHL’s holiday roster freeze which goes into effect as of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday and lasts until 12:01 a.m. Dec. 28. During that time, teams are not permitted to trade, waive or assign players to a minor league affiliate (aside from a handful of extenuating circumstances). Recalls from a minor league affiliate are permitted, however.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
