Penguins expect to start goaltender Tristan Jarry against Flames

In 11 games this season, Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry has a 6-3-2 record.

The Penguins are expected to start goaltender Tristan Jarry for Wednesday’s home game against the Calgary Flames at PPG Paints Arena.

In 11 games this season, Jarry has a 6-3-2 record, a 3.27 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.

His most recent game was a 3-0 shutout on the road of the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. He made 32 saves in that contest.

In five career games against the Flames, Jarry has a 3-0-2 record, a 1.72 goals against average and a .948 save percentage.

Notes:

• Backup goaltender Casey DeSmith is available for Wednesday’s game after missing Tuesday’s practice to be evaluated for an undisclosed injury.

During an optional morning skate Wednesday, DeSmith participated and primarily worked with goaltending coach Andy Chiodo as well as emergency backup goaltender Mike Chiasson. Following the skate, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan labeled DeSmith as “fine.”

In eight games this season, DeSmith has a 3-4-1 record, a 2.88 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.

• In addition to Jarry and DeSmith, those who participated in the optional morning skate included:

Forwards – Teddy Blueger, Kasperi Kapanen, Evgeni Malkin, Brock McGinn, Ryan Poehling, Rickard Rakell

Defensemen – P.O Joseph, Marcus Pettersson, Chad Ruhwedel

• Prior to the game, the Penguins are scheduled to recognize Malkin for playing in his 1,000th career game during a 5-3 road win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

• Jarry has 99 career wins.

• Rakell has 199 career assists.

• The Flames are expected to start backup goaltender Dan Vladar. In four games this season, Vladar has a 1-3-0 record, a 3.33 goals against average and an .881 save percentage.

Vladar has faced the Penguins in two games throughout his career and as a 1-1-0 record, a 2.04 goals against average and .930 save percentage.

• Flames forward Tyler Toffoli has 199 career goals.

• Flames defenseman Mackenzie Weegar has 99 career assists.
