The Penguins will face the Boston Bruins in next season’s Winter Classic at Boston’s Fenway Park, the NHL announced Wednesday night.

The Penguins are no strangers to outdoor contests, which have become tentpole events for the NHL over the past two decades. In total, they have played in five outdoor games since they first faced the Buffalo Sabres at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. on Jan. 1, 2008.

Only the Chicago Blackhawks (six) have appeared in more outdoor games.

Fenway Park is owned by Fenway Sports Group, which took over as majority owners of the Penguins on Dec. 31. That venue has hosted a handful of outdoor hockey games, but primarily at the NCAA level. The only NHL contest at Fenway Park was a 2-1 overtime win by the Bruins against the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 1, 2010.

The game will be televised on TNT. Ticket information has not yet been released.
