The Penguins are expected to start goaltender Tristan Jarry for Thursday’s home game against the Los Angeles Kings at PPG Paints Arena.

Penguins coach Mike Sullivan announced Jarry’s status following an optional morning skate.

Jarry has played in two games this season and has a 2-0-0 record, a 2.01 goals against average and .938 save percentage.

In four career games against the Kings, Jarry has a 1-3-0 record, a 3.94 goals against average, and an .891 save percentage.

Notes:

• Penguins forward Teddy Blueger remains sidelined due to an undisclosed injury that has hindered him since Sept. 28.

• Blueger was one of eight players who participated in the optional morning skate for the Penguins. He was joined by forwards Jeff Carter and Ryan Poehling; defensemen P.O Joseph, Jeff Petry, Marcus Pettersson and Chad Ruhwedel; and goaltender Casey DeSmith.

• The Kings are expected to start backup goaltender Cal Petersen. In two games this season, Petersen has a 2-0-0 record, a 4.32 goals against average and an .866 save percentage.

• Over his career, Quick has played in two games against the Penguins and has a 2-0-0 record, a 2.01 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.

• This will be the third consecutive game in which the Penguins will face a backup goaltender.

On Saturday, they defeated Brian Elliott and the Tampa Bay Lightning, 6-2, then lost to the Montreal Canadiens and Sam Montembeault in overtime, 3-2, on Monday.

• The Kings’ lines and pairs during their morning skate were:

9 Adrian Kempe – 11 Anze Kopitar – 22 Kevin Fiala

12 Trevor Moore – 24 Phillip Danault – 33 Viktor Arvidsson

34 Arthur Kaliyev – 55 Quinton Byfield – 13 Gabriel Vilardi

48 Brendan Lemieux – 46 Blake Lizotte – 91 Carl Grundstrom

44 Mikey Anderson – 8 Drew Doughty

50 Sean Durzi – 3 Matt Roy

92 Brandt Clarke – 26 Sean Walker

• Moore tends to have success against the Penguins. In three career games against them, he has five points (two goals, three assists).
