In 34 games this season, Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry has a 19-7-6 record.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry for Sunday’s home game against the New York Rangers at PPG Paints Arena.

His status was announced via a statement from the team approximately two hours before the game.

This season, Jarry has appeared in 34 games and has a 19-7-6 record, a 2.89 goals against average, a .912 save percentage and one shutout.

In the lone meeting between the two teams to this point in the season, a 3-2 home win by the Penguins on Dec. 22, Jarry made 26 saves on 28 shots.

Notes:

• Penguins forward Ryan Poehling, currently designated to long-term injured reserve, remains sidelined due to an undisclosed ailment.

• Penguins forward Jake Guentzel has 399 career points.

• The Rangers are slated to start goaltender Jaroslav Halak. In 19 games this season, Halak has an 8-8-2 record, a 2.80 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

A longtime nemesis of the Penguins, Halak has faced the Penguins in 25 career games and has a 13-10-2 record in those contests, as well as a 2.65 goals against average, a .914 save percentage and one shutout.

• Rangers forward Alexis Lafreniere has played in 199 career games.

• Sunday’s contest is scheduled to start at 4:22 p.m. The NHL has falsely advertised it as beginning at 4 p.m.
