The Pittsburgh Penguins signed former Florida Panthers forward Colin White to a professional tryout contract (PTO).
White, 26, appeared in 68 regular-season games last season with the Panthers and scored 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) while averaging 9 minutes, 38 seconds of ice time.
In the playoffs, as the Panthers won the Eastern Conference, White appeared in all 21 games and recorded two assists while clocking 7:25 of ice time per contest.
Listed as a center, White primarily was deployed as a right winger on the fourth line last season.
A native of Boston, the right-handed White (6-foot-1, 194 pounds) was a first-round pick (No. 21 overall) of the Ottawa Senators in 2015 and spent the first six seasons of his NHL career with that organization.
White is the fourth player the Penguins have signed to a PTO, joining defensemen Mark Pysyk and Libor Hajek and forward Austin Wagner.
