Two goals by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Nick Bonino led the United States to a 7-1 win against Hungary in a preliminary round game at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland on Sunday.

Serving as the United States’ first-line center and selected as his team’s player of game, Bonino logged 15 minutes, 36 seconds of ice time on 20 shifts and had three shots while going 13 for 18 (72.2%) in faceoffs.

Penguins forward Drew O’Connor registered 17:18 of ice time on 21 shifts, had three shots and was 12 for 19 (63.1%) on faceoffs.

Penguins defenseman P.O Joseph scored a go-ahead goal for Canada in a 5-2 victory against Slovenia at Arena Riga in Riga, Latvia.

Primarily deployed on the third pairing, Joseph logged 18:33 of ice time on 24 shifts and recorded four shots.

Former Penguins forward prospect Jan Drozg scored each of Slovenia’s goals.

Penguins forward Alex Nylander recorded an assist for Sweden in a 5-0 shutout of Austria at Nokia Arena.

Logging 17:54 of ice time on 20 shifts, Nylander recorded two shots.

Penguins defensive prospect Thimo Nickl recorded 17:22 of ice time on 25 shifts while primarily playing on Austria’s top pairing.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Justin Addamo scored a goal for France in a 4-3 overtime loss to a Denmark at Nokia Arena.

A product of Robert Morris, Addamo had 14:02 of ice time on 19 shifts, one shot and was eight for 12 on faceoffs (66.6%).
