Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic stopped all 10 shots he faced and led the United States to a 5-0 shutout of France in a preliminary round game at Ostravar Arena in Vítkovice, Czechia on Thursday.
Wheeling Nailers forward Justin Addamo, a Robert Morris alumni, centered France’s fourth line and logged 11:53 of ice time on 20 shifts while going 4 for 7 (36.3%) on faceoffs.

The United States’ next game is against Poland on Friday, 2:20 p.m. (EDT). France will face Slovakia on Saturday, 2:20 p.m.
Penguins defenseman Marcus Pettersson recorded an assist for Sweden in a 3-1 win against Kazakhstan at Ostravar Arena.
Stationed on Sweden’s third pairing, Pettersson logged 17:55 of ice time on 20 shifts and had two shots.
Highlights:
Fellow Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson was held without a point. Working on Sweden’s top pairing, Karlsson clocked 22:16 of ice time on 25 shifts and had one shot.
Sweden’s next game is against Latvia on Saturday, 6:20 a.m.
Penguins forward Michael Bunting was held without a point for Canada in a 4-1 victory against Norway at the O2 Arena in Prague.
Opening the contest on the left wing of Canada’s fourth line, Bunting clocked 15:44 of ice time on 18 shifts and had one shot.

Canada’s next game is against Finland on Saturday, 10:20 a.m.
Penguins defensive prospect Thimo Nickl scored a goal for Austria in a 3-2 win against Finland at the O2 Arena. The result was Austria’s first win in international competition against Finland.
Working on Austria’s top pairing, Nickl logged 14:34 of ice time on 18 shifts and had one shot.
Penguins forwards Jesse Puljujarvi and Valtteri Puustinen were each held without a point for Finland.
Opening the contest on the right wing of Finland’s top line, Puustinen recorded a game-high six shots on 14:26 of ice time on 18 shifts.
Puljujarvi skated on the right wing of the second line and logged 16:26 of ice time on 18 shifts as well as a single shot.
