The Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry in Thursday’s home game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Coach Mike Sullivan announced Jarry’s status following an optional morning skate Thursday.

In 28 games this season, Jarry has a 16-6-5 record, a 2.67 goals against average, a .920 save percentage and one shutout.

In three career games against the Oilers, Jarry has a 1-2-0 record, a 4.03 goals against average and an .875 save percentage.

Notes:

• Penguins defensemen Jeff Petry and Marcus Pettersson are each available for Thursday’s lineup according to Sullivan.

Both players were absent from a practice session in Cranberry on Wednesday but participated in Thursday’s optional morning skate.

Petry did not practice Wednesday due to an illness while Pettersson was excused to attend to the birth of his son, Frans.

Forwards – Danton Heinen, Drew O’Connor

Defensemen – Mark Friedman, Petry, Pettersson, Chad Ruhwedel, Jan Rutta

Goaltender – Casey DeSmith

• Friedman, Rutta and forward Ryan Poehling all remain sidelined due to undisclosed injury.

Friedman, who has missed the past four games due to his ailment, skated in a non-contact capacity during Thursday’s morning skate.

Rutta joined the morning skate late and worked out with assistant coach Ty Hennes. Currently designated to long-term injured reserve, Rutta has missed the past 14 games due to an undisclosed malady.

• Poehling has missed 18 of the past 31 games due to a lingering injury.

• O’Connor is expected to set a new career-high by appearing in his 23rd game of the season.

• The Oilers are expected to start goaltender Stuart Skinner. In 31 games this season, Skinner has a 14-11-4 record, a 2.92 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.

Skinner has never faced the Penguins in his career.
