Penguins trade forward prospect Lukas Svejkovsky to Lightning

Forward Lukas Svejkovsky spent parts of the past two seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins exchanged minor league forwards with the Tampa Bay Lightning in a trade Sunday.

Lukas Svejkovsky, a fourth-round pick (No. 108 overall) in 2020 was sent to the Lightning in exchange for forward Bennett MacArthur.

The 23-year-old MacArthur predominantly spent the 2023-24 season at the ECHL level with the Allen Americans and Orlando Solar Bears. In 55 ECHL games, MacArthur had 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists).

He also played in two games at the AHL level with the Syracuse Crunch and did not record a point.

Undrafted, MacArthur is entering the final year of a three-year entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $859,167. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent in 2025.

Svejkovsky’s time with the organization comes to an end after splitting the past two seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL and Wheeling of the ECHL.

Last season, Svejkovsky was productive with Wheeling, posting 37 points (16 goals, 21 assists) in 30 games. Appearing in 19 contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Svejkovsky had four points (two goals, two assists).

Svejkovsky, who was born in Tampa but grew up in Point Roberts, Wash., is entering the final year of a three-year entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $859,167.
