Pittsburgh Steelers tailgating is the best in Pennsylvania.

Of course, we knew that. But now it’s official, at least according to a new national poll that compared other football tailgating options.

LiveSportsonTV.com carried out the poll, which asked 3,000 football fans nationwide one question: Which tailgate party/gameday experience would you most want to experience once in a lifetime?

Steelers came in at No. 21 compared to teams across the country, with the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 33, Penn State Nittany Lions at No. 66 and Pitt Panthers at No. 77.

The top 10 included:

  • 1 — Alabama Crimson Tide
  • 2 — Texas Longhorns
  • 3 — San Francisco 49ers
  • 4 — New England Patriots
  • 5 — Houston Texans
  • 6 — Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  • 7 — Denver Broncos
  • 8 — Kansas City Chiefs
  • 9 — Dallas Cowboys
  • 10 — Buffalo Bills

When asked about the best part of tailgating, 38% of fans chose the pre-game excitement and rituals as their favorite part, 30% loved bonding with fellow fans, 26% liked food and drinks best and 6% enjoyed the chance to dress up and show team spirit, the poll found.

What’s tailgating without the perfect setup?

The poll found that 34% would splurge on a custom van or RV decked out in team colors, 24% would purchase a top-notch grill and smoker or a large screen to watch pre-game coverage and 18% of fans would go for a sound system.

“Tailgating is truly where the heart of football fandom beats,” said Emil Sturesson of LiveSportsonTV.com. “Our survey shows that fans don’t just come for the game — they’re here to connect, celebrate and immerse themselves in a community.”
