Joey Bart is back in the starting lineup for the Pittsburgh Pirates, who activated the catcher from the 10-day injured list after being out since Aug. 26 with a left hamstring strain.
Bart is batting .272/.347/.497 with eight doubles, 12 home runs and 39 RBIs in 63 games for the Pirates since being acquired from the San Francisco Giants in a trade in early April.
To make room on the active roster, the Pirates designated outfielder Billy McKinney for assignment.
McKinney, acquired from the New York Yankees in an offseason trade, spent most of the season at Triple-A Indianapolis before being called up to the Pirates on Aug. 19. He batted .200 (5 for 25) with a double and two RBIs in 10 games in the majors this season.
The Pirates now have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
