Pirates announce 2023 schedule, to play Chicago White Sox in home opener
The Pittsburgh Pirates will open the 2023 season with a three-game series at Cincinnati starting March 30 and, for the first time, host the Chicago White Sox in the home opener April 7.
The Pirates announced their 2023 regular-season schedule, which will feature visits from 22 teams as part of MLB’s new scheduling format. That includes three interleague series in the first two weeks.

After the series at Cincinnati, the Pirates will visit Boston to play three games against the Red Sox from April 3-5 before returning to PNC Park to host the White Sox from April 7-9 and the Houston Astros from April 10-12.
The schedule also includes the first trip to Seattle since 2016, as part of a six-game road trip to Seattle and San Francisco from May 26-31; the first visit by the Oakland A’s to PNC Park since 2001, as part of a nine-game homestand against St. Louis, Oakland and the New York Mets from June 2-11.
The PNC Park schedule also features a six-game homestand against the Giants and Cleveland Guardians from July 14-19; a five-game homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers from July 28-Aug. 2; and a seven-game homestand that includes a visit by the New York Yankees Sept. 15-17; and a three-game series against the Miami Marlins from Sept. 29-Oct. 1 to conclude the regular season.
