Pirates farm report for Aug. 29, 2023: Matt Gorski homers in Altoona victory
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 59-66) produced only five hits in a 2-0 loss against Buffalo (Blue Jays). LF Miguel Andujar (.340) was 1 for 4 with the only extra-base hit for Indy — a double. RF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.252) and 1B Malcom Nunez (.246) each went 1 for 4 with a single. 3B Jared Triolo (.293) and C Grant Koch (.269) each went 1 for 3. LHP Cam Alldred (7-7, 5.13) threw five innings, allowing one run on one hit, walked two and struck out four in a loss. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (3.04) allowed one unearned run and two hits while striking out one in an inning of relief. RHP Travis MacGregor (4.81) tossed two shutout innings and struck out a pair.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 57-61) defeated Erie (Tigers) 7-5. RHP Aaron Shortridge (10-7, 4.45) went seven innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits, walked two and struck out four. LHP Omar Cruz (4.58) gave up one run on three hits and fanned two in an inning of relief. LHP Tyler Samaniego (5.40) allowed one run on two hits and walked one in an inning to earn the save. CF Matt Gorski (.243) went 1 for 4 and blasted his 17th home run of the year. C Carter Bins (.196) went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run and a single. 3B Joe Perez (.373) was 1 for 2 with two walks and a three-run double. SS Tsung Che Cheng (.272) went 0 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 63-55) was trounced 11-3 by Hickory (Rangers). RHP Derek Diamond (4.21) started and went six innings, allowed two runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out four. LHP Julian Bosnic (1-1, 8.59) gave up one run on no hits and struck out one and was tagged with the loss. RHP Valentin Linarez (4.83) allowed five runs, four earned, and gave up a grand slam. RHP Eddy Yean (5.20) gave up three runs, two earned, on one hit and walked two. CF Jase Bowen (.260) went 3 for 5 with a home run, his 23rd on the year, and a double. DH Brenden Dixon (.219) was 1 for 3 with an RBI double and a walk. 1B Josiah Sightler (.259) was 1 for 4 with a walk and a single. RF Luke Brown (.260) was 1 for 4 with an RBI double.
