Pirates farm report for games of April 18, 2019

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 9-4) was postponed because of rain in their series finale against visiting Toledo (Tigers). RHP Eduardo Vera (0-0, 3.27) is expected to be the Indians’ starting pitcher in their series opener Friday night against Louisville (Reds).

Next: Friday vs. Louisville, 7:15 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 6-8) lost 8-4 against Richmond (Giants). RHP Scooter Hightower (0-2, 5.02) took the loss after giving up four earned runs on six hits, including a home run. Hightower struck out two and walked one in four innings. C Arden Pabst (.172) went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and two runs.

Next: Friday at Richmond, 7:05 p.m.

BRADENTON (High-A, 10-5) won 3-2 over Jupiter (Marlins) in 10 innings. 1B Lucas Tancas (.278) drove in SS Nick Franklin (.000) with the winning run on a single to left field. Tancas finished 2 for 5. LF Chris Sharpe (.190) went 2 for 4 with a second-inning solo home run. RHP Joel Cesar (2-0, 1.13) picked up the win despite blowing the save in the ninth, giving up a solo homer. It was Cesar’s lone hit and run allowed in three innings, with four strikeouts.

Next: Friday vs. Jupiter, 6:30 p.m.

GREENSBORO (Low-A, 7-8) lost 6-1 to Delmarva (Orioles). 2B Rodolfo Castro (.250) accounted for three of the Grasshoppers’ six hits, finishing 3 for 3 with a solo homer in the fourth. RHP Brad Case (1-1, 2.16) took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits, including two home runs, in five innings. Case had two strikeouts and a walk.

Next: Friday vs. Delmarva, 7 p.m.
