Pirates

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 24-18) won 4-3 over Louisville (Reds) in 10 innings. The winning run came on a fielder’s choice double play hit into by 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes (.244) in the top half of the tenth, which scored C Christian Kelley (.192). SS Kevin Kramer (.287) double twice in three at-bats and drove in two runs. RHP Richard Rodriguez (1-0, 9.00) blew the save in the ninth before recording the win. Rodriguez pitched the ninth inning in which he gave up a solo homer to tie the score 3-3. It was his only hit and run allowed. RHP Alex McRae (4-2, 5.18) threw the first seven innings with eight strikeouts and two runs allowed on two home runs in a no decision. LHP Tyler Lyons (1-0, 2.51) earned his first save this season.

Next: Thursday at Louisville, 7 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 22-22) lost 2-1 to New Hampshire (Blue Jays). 1B Jerrick Suiter (.257) was 2 for 3 with a sixth-inning solo homer for the Curve’s only score. LHP Cam Vieaux (2-3, 2.86) recorded the loss despite striking out 10 and allowing two runs in six innings.

Next: Thursday at New Hampshire, 11:35 a.m.

BRADENTON (High-A, 25-20) defeated Fort Myers (Twins), 2-1. 2B Chase Lambert (.182) was 1 for 2 with a double and a two-run sacrifice fly, which scored the tying and winning runs in the seventh. RHP Max Kranick (2-5, 4.79) earned the win after giving up a solo home run as his only hit in seven innings with a three strikeouts and a walk on 66 pitches.

Next: Thursday vs. Tampa (Yankees), 6:30 p.m.

GREENSBORO (Low-A, 30-14) won 17-7 over West Virginia (Mariners). The Grasshoppers scored a majority of their runs at the start and finish of the game, tallying six runs in the first inning and seven in the ninth. SS Rodolfo Castro (.279) was 2 for 5 with a three-run homer in the ninth, a double and four RBIs along with two runs scored. LF Fabricio Macias (.246) finished 2 for 4 with a solo homer, two RBIs and three runs scored. RHP Alex Manasa (5-0, 3.66) recorded six strikeouts and three earned runs on four hits in six innings to pick up the victory. LHP Cam Alldred (1-0, 3.57) earned his first save this season in a three-inning outing.

Next: Thursday at West Virginia, 7:05 p.m.

Independent

WASHINGTON (Frontier League, 2-9) lost 17-3 to Florence. The Wild Thing pitchers allowed 12 of the 17 Freedom runs in the last three innings, including a seven spot in the eighth. RHP Michael Austin (1-1, 5.82) allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits in six innings to record the loss. Austin also had six strikeouts and three walks in 108 pitches. The four Washington bullpen pitchers who followed totaled 12 earned runs allowed on eight hits and 10 walks in three innings of relief.
