Bryan Reynolds is out, with a new baby. Bligh Madris is back, possibly at a new position.
The Pittsburgh Pirates placed Reynolds on the paternity leave list Thursday after his wife Blair gave birth to a baby boy Wednesday morning. The team recalled Madris from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Reynolds, the Pirates center fielder, was leading the team in batting (.254), slugging percentage (.453), OPS (.789), home runs (15) and is tied for the team lead in RBIs (35) in 85 games this season.
Madris slashed .259/.286/.407 with five doubles, one homer and six RBIs in 15 games for the Pirates from June 20-July 7. He started the past six games at first base for Indianapolis, where he slashed .271/.327/.396 in 13 games this month.
