Pirates left fielder Bryan Reynolds celebrates after hitting a home run against the White Sox on Friday, April 7, 2023, at PNC Park.

The Pittsburgh Pirates made several roster moves Sunday morning, including one that could involve a major league debut.

The Pirates recalled infielder Drew Maggi from Double-A Altoona and placed outfielder Bryan Reynolds on the bereavement list. To make room on the 40-man roster, first baseman/designated hitter Ji-Man Choi (left Achilles tendon) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Maggi, 33, a 2010 15th-round pick by the Pirates, is a 6-foot, 192-pounder who can play shortstop, second base and third base. He has spent time in the majors but never played in an MLB game.
