Indianapolis Indians catcher Endy Rodriguez was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game on July 8 in Seattle.

Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Endy Rodriguez, a catcher at Triple-A Indianapolis, is one of six minor-league players whose selection to the All-Star Futures Game was announced Monday afternoon on the MLB Network Radio channel on Sirius XM. Right-handed Pirates pitching prospect J.P. Massey also was chosen.

They will join outfielder Justin Crawford (Philadelphia Phillies) and left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison (San Francisco Giants) on the National League team, with outfielder Jonatan Clase (Seattle Mariners), shortstop Marcelo Mayer (Boston Red Sox) and right-handed pitcher Owen White (Texas Rangers) on the American League team.

The Futures Game will be played July 8 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

The 23-year-old Rodriguez, acquired from the New York Mets in the three-team trade that sent Joe Musgrove to the San Diego Padres in January 2021, was the Pirates’ minor-league player of the year last season after slashing .323/.407/.590 with 39 doubles, four triples, 25 home runs and 95 RBIs over three levels of the system.

Rodriguez is batting .248/.332/.389 with 11 doubles, three triples, five homers and 31 RBIs this season at Indy. He’s ranked the Pirates’ top prospect by Baseball America and No. 2 by MLB Pipeline.

Complete Futures Game rosters will be announced Monday night by MLB.
