Two more Pittsburgh Pirates prospects earned honors Friday, when Endy Rodriguez was named MVP and right-hander Adrian Florencio the pitcher of the year in the Low-A Southeast League after leading the Bradenton Marauders to the league’s championship series.

Rodriguez, 21, a catcher/first baseman/outfielder who was acquired from the New York Mets in the three-team deal that sent Joe Musgrove to San Diego, is ranked the Pirates’ No. 19 prospect by MLB Pipeline. Rodriguez batted .294/.380/.512 with 25 doubles, six triples, 15 home runs and 73 RBIs.

Florencio, who turns 23 on Monday, was 6-4 with a 2.46 ERA and 1.053 WHIP and 117 strikeouts in 95 innings over 19 starts.

Marauders manager Jonathan Johnston also was named Low-A Southeast League manager of the year. Reliever Enmanuel Mejia, who went 4-1 with eight saves and didn’t allow an earned run in 21 appearances, was named to the all-star team.

Rodriguez and Florencio are the latest Pirates prospects to earn honors, as Greensboro Grasshoppers outfielder Matt Fraizer — who was promoted to Double-A Altoona — was named MVP, and right-hander Quinn Priester was chosen pitcher of the year in High-A East League.
