The top prospects in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ farm system played a role in helping the National League defeat the American League, 6-1, on Saturday in the All-Star Futures Game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Second baseman Termarr Johnson, the Pirates’ top pick (fourth overall) in the 2022 draft, started the seven-inning game at second base and batted third in the order. He was 1 for 2 with a single.

Johnson, 20, plays for the Pirates’ Single-A team in Greensboro, N.C.

Right-handed pitcher Bubba Chandler worked the final inning, striking out Gavin Cross, a first-round selection of the Kansas City Royals in 2022, with a breaking ball. Chandler, who plays for Double-A Altoona, also allowed one hit and one walk.

He was a third-round choice of the Pirates in 2021 and is rated the franchise’s No. 1 prospect by MLB.com.
