Pirates will wear City Connect series uniforms against Padres in June
The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Monday that they will wear their City Connect series uniforms for the first time when they play the San Diego Padres on June 27 at PNC Park.
The Pirates are one of six major league teams participating in the Nike MLB City Connect program, created to celebrate the bond between each team and its city with uniforms that “explores the personality, values and customs that make each community and their residents unique.”

MLB announced that the launch date for the Pirates’ City Connect uniforms, which includes the cap and socks, is on June 22. The other participating teams are the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles.
“Perhaps more than any other city, sports are intertwined into the fabric of Pittsburgh. Our sports teams are a part of who we are,” Pirates president Travis Williams said in a statement. “We are excited to collaborate with Nike on the City Connect uniform to capture and celebrate this special connection between Pittsburgh and our fans.”
