Pirates reliever Colin Holderman works out on Feb. 15, 2024, at Pirate City in Bradenton.

The Pittsburgh Pirates ended the rehabilitation assignment of right-handed reliever Colin Holderman and reinstated him from the 15-day injured list.

Holderman, who lost 15 pounds due to an illness in spring training, allowed three runs in two-thirds of an inning in his first appearance on March 29 but held opponents to one hit in three scoreless innings in his final three appearances for Triple-A Indianapolis. He joined the Pirates on Tuesday as a member of their taxi squad.

The 27-year-old sinkerballer was 0-3 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.34 WHIP and two saves as a setup man in 56 innings over 58 appearances last season, averaging 9.3 strikeouts and 3.2 walks per nine innings.

The Pirates optioned two other right-handed relievers to Indianapolis, Ryder Ryan on Tuesday and Carmen Mlodzinski on Wednesday after his rehabilitation assignment for right elbow inflammation ended.
