A week after Eli Holstein hurt his leg Nov. 23 early in the loss to Louisville, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi will stick with relief quarterback Nate Yarnell on Saturday at Boston College. Yarnell will start Pitt’s final regular-season game.

TribLive news partner WTAE-TV first reported the news.

Yarnell has been a backup and starting quarterback in each of his three seasons at Pitt between 2022-24. He first played at Western Michigan in 2022 when Kedon Slovis was injured and started the last two games of 2023 when Phil Jurkovec and Christian Veilleux were benched.

In and out of the lineup this season, Yarnell replaced Holstein in games 7, 8, 9 and 11 against Syracuse, SMU, Virginia and Louisville after Holstein suffered two head injuries and a leg injury.

Yarnell threw for 350 yards when he started the 24-20 loss to Clemson in the 10th game Nov. 16, driving Pitt to a 20-17 lead with 1 minute, 36 seconds left in the game.

Yarnell played most of the game last week when Holstein was injured against Louisville.
