RMU's football game with Monmouth postponed
Robert Morris football was scheduled to play its spring home opener Saturday against Monmouth at Joe Walton Stadium.
That game now has been postponed because of a positive covid test within the Colonials program, the RMU athletic department announced Wednesday morning.
The Big South Conference is working with both Robert Morris and Monmouth to reschedule the game.
“The health and safety of the RMU and Moon Township community remains paramount as RMU Athletics continues to follow university, local, state and national guidelines in response to the global pandemic,” the athletic department said in a release announcing the postponement.
The Colonials began a five-game spring schedule Feb. 27 at No. 2 James Madison. The game was tied 16-16 at the break before the Dukes pulled away in the second half.
RMU is scheduled to travel to Charleston Southern for a Big South game March 20 before paying a visit to Kennesaw State (Ga.) for another conference matchup April 3.
The Colonials are slated to host Gardner-Webb on April 10.
The Big South’s spring schedule features five teams playing a four-game schedule to determine the league’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs.
James Madison is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.
